The Wailuku river runs north of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. Just beside town there is an old mill. Above the mill the Wailuku splits into numerous channels that then turn into a semi ring of waterfalls. Boats can sail into this area from the nearby mouth of the river. What a spectacular place to enjoy Hawaii!

When we lived in Hawaii, I sketched and photographed this area numerous times. This painting comes from that experience.
